J is for... What?

Sunday, 16 March 2014

So my story in Rhonda Parrish's A is for Armageddon anthology will be appearing later this year - and Rhonda is already working on the next volume of her alphabetized anthological odyssey. The second volume is to be called B is for Broken and once again I shall be contributing a story.

This time my assigned letter is J. So I need to write a story called J is for Jwhatever that meshes with an idea or theme of "broken". Any suggestions good people? So far I've considered Juggernaut (a war-robot of that name with a broken heart maybe?), Jupiter (so some sort of spacefaring yarn) and Jinx (possibly fantasy/magical).

Any other ideas? Please give me your jottings and judgements in the comments below...

  1. What an awesome letter! Jack o' lantern. (Carved up is definitely a form of broken.) How does that pumpkin feel, and does he have a plan for revenge? Juggler--there is a certain sadness about them at times. A juggler with nothing left to juggle. A juggler without hands? A juggler who can no longer see? A juggler with mechanical hands?

    1. Woh, some great suggestions there, Von! "Juggler With Nothing Left to Juggle" would be a wonderful title. Thanks for the thoughts.

  2. Hmm. Jagged? Jaded? The Jaded Jarl with the Jagged Dagger?

    1. Alliteration is good - thanks for the suggestions. Slightly surprised you didn't say "Jeff"?

  3. Jousting. Broken ribs, broken skulls, broken loyalty, broken jousting sticks. You could add in a broken heart for our hero and allow him to die on the field and his lady love rides off with the winning lord.

I like the letter J, so many possibilities.

  5. I'm thinking Joan of Arc, burned at the stake for witchcraft, and I know you like that theme as much as I do - something along those lines. Sounds very cool, congrats! I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the first one.
