So The Future Fire - home to "socio-political speculative fiction in all genres, but with a particular taste for Cyberpunk, Feminist SF, Queer SF and Eco-SF" - have accepted my short story The Day The Books Left.
Delighted about this one. The story was on its twelfth submission and seemed to be one of those "hard to categorize" stories that didn't work for a lot of editors. I suppose the story is somewhere between magic realism and fantasy. Maybe it's "slipstream". Who knows?
The Future Fire's guidelines are here if you have any "beautiful and useful fiction that focuses on the social-political elements of imaginary, futuristic, fantastic, horrifying, surreal or otherwise speculative universes" looking for a good home. And who doesn't?
