The Day The Books Left published in The Future Fire

Friday, 9 October 2015

[ Issue 2015.34; Cover art © 2015 Carmen Moran ] Short story The Day The Books Left is published in The Future Fire today - the magazine's tenth anniversary issue. The story is illustrated by Michael Csontos.

This is another story about libraries, something that's clearly been on my mind of late. Despite the UK being one of the richest countries in the world, we have a bunch of politicians - at local and national level - who clearly think it's reasonable for libraries to be closed down en masse.

No doubt they would express regret and drone on about tough decisions if asked. Their short-sightedness and stupidity beggars belief. I'll bet most of them don't use public libraries much, either...

"The books had to be free. Words kept locked up and unread were not words. They were lines on paper."
